Vermont Tech Men keep #2 ranking in USCAA Coaches Poll
The USCAA has released its Week 11 Coaches’ Poll Rankings. Vermont Tech has re-gained the top spot after a 3-win week, following 3 weeks at #2. Williamson drops back into the number two spot after a three week stint at #1. YSCC rivals moved this week as well: Southern Maine Community College jumped two spots to #6, while NHTI drops one to #7.
The Knights are 24-4 on the season and a perfect 12-0 in the YSCC, winning the conference title for the regular season. Vermont Techs leads the USCAA in scoring offense, field goal shooting percentage and free throw shooting percentage and is in the top three in scoring margin, rebound margin and three point shooting percentage.
“I’m really proud of our guys. They are a resilient team. We have been shooting the ball extremely well. We get to the foul line consistently because we have been attacking the rim. Our concentration on foul shooting in practice has been paying off. Our backcourt combo of Kevin Carr and Alex Tyrrell are both in the top five in the USCAA in free throw percentage. Kevin is #1. That really helps. If we can pick up our defensive intensity, keep our big guys out of foul trouble and remain healthy we can make a serious run this season.”
The Knights will compete in the Yankee Small College Conference Championships this weekend in Portland, Maine.
