
Simpson and Carr Pace Knights to Second Win
Nick Simpson and Kevin Carr are emerging as VTC’s dynamic duo. Simpson scored 30 points, primarily from inside the paint while Kevin Carr nailed 25 points, primarily from beyond the arc, as the Green Knights defeated Eastern Maine 94-73. The Knights are now 2-0 overall and 2-0 in the Yankee Small College Conference.
Simpson notched his second “double-double” of the season, hauling down 11 offensive rebounds. He shot 8 of 12 from the free throw line, dished 4 assists and stole the ball 3 times. Carr was equally outstanding. He was 5 for 5 from the line (a perfect 12-12 for the season), pilfered the ball an incredible 8 times and had 3 assists.
Alex Tyrrell from Sydney, Australia added 12 points, 3 assists and five rebounds. Junior guard John Robinson added 9 points. 6’6” Freshman post player Josh Lindsey from Palm Bay, Florida chipped in with 9 points and 8 rebounds.
Eastern Maine’s Thelbert Green scored 25 points and Michael Baltimore added 15 points and 15 rebounds.
Coach John Dyer commented after game: “Eastern Maine is vastly improved. They have a nice, balanced starting group. The difference in this game was free throws. We have been effective in getting to the line and converting.” The Knights hit on 22 of 27 free throws compared to Eastern Maine’s 11 of 17.
