Kevin Carr scores 1000th point
Kevin Carr needed just five points in Vermont Tech’s s game against University of Maine/Machias to reach the career 1,000th point mark. He made the history books after the first few possessions. Carr hit a driving lay up and followed it with three point shot to open the game. The Knights went on to win the contest 118-64.
Carr transferred to Vermont Tech after spending his freshman season at Eastern Nazarene in Boston. In his first season at Vermont Tech, Carr scored a Vermont Tech single season record 697 points. Thus far this season, Carr has amassed 322 points. His 24.5 average ranks him 5th among all USCAA scorers and 8th nationally among all NAIA scorers.
“It would be a mistake to view Kevin Carr simply as a scorer,” commented Coach John Dyer. “He is a complete player. He has great vision and is an exceptional passer. However, one of best aspects of his game is his defense. Kevin usually defends our opponents’ best player. He is incredibly quick and possesses an intuitive sense where the ball is going to wind up. The result is an amazing number of steals. He’s one of the very best players I have had the pleasure to coach.”
Currently, Carr leads the USCAA in free throw percentage (89.5%) and ranks third in steals. Carr was named USCAA All-American in 2009-10. He made the YSCC and Sunrise Conference All Conference teams. Thus far this season, Carr has been named the YSCC Player of the Week and the USCAA National Player of the Week.
