CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Vermont Tech freshman Mallory Fischer (Jericho, VT) recorded a hat-trick and junior Tabitha Totten (St. Albans, VT) scored two goals off the bench to lead visiting Vermont Tech to a 7-0 victory over Pine Manor College on Saturday afternoon.
Vermont Tech senior Ashley Lockerby (Enosburg, VT) opened the scoring for the visitors at 15:51 of the first half when she connected on a shot from the top of the penalty area to give the Knights a 1-0 advantage. From that point, Fischer and Totten combined to score the next five Vermont Tech goals, all in the first half, as the visitors raced to a commanding lead at the break.
Fischer scored in the 18th and 26th minute of the first half to give the Knights a 3-0 lead. Totten then joined the action as a substitute late in the half and capitalized on her time on the field with two goals. Eileen Gomez (Fr./Burlington, VT) recorded both assists on Totten's goals. The pair made the score 4-0 in the 38th minute and extended the Knights' lead to 5-0 just a minute later. Fischer capped off the first half by completing her hat trick as she slotted home a pass from freshman Ashley Young (Fr./Concord, VT) just minutes before halftime.
Vermont Tech added another goal, by Halie Shea (So./Lisbon, NH), with Young recording her second assist of the game, in the second to finish off the scoring and take the eventual 7-0 victory.
