Women's Basketball: Knights to Host 13 Home Games for 2011-12
Thirteen home contests out of 24 regular season games highlight the 2011-12 schedule for the Lady Knights of Vermont Tech. The women are looking to improve upon a 2010-11 season that saw them achieve a 6-18 overall record.
One major change from last year is the school has altered league affiliations. No longer is Vermont Tech a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Sunrise Conference. This will be the first season the team is solely a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) and the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC). The other major change is at the position of Head Coach, a role the school has filled with Alex Winnicker, who last year helped lead the Daniel Webster College Eagles to a New England Collegiate Conference Championship and an NCAA Tournament bid.
The Knights have to be on their game early as they begin the season with an important YSCC matchup at home against Hampshire College on November 8th at 6:00pm. The team then hits the road for another conference game versus the Moose of the University of Maine Augusta on November 11th, before coming back home for a two-game stand pitting the Knights against YSCC foe Unity College and NCAA DIII opponent Johson State College on November 12th and 16th, at 2:00 and 6:00pm respectively.
The regular season ends with two non-conerence games. On February 17th the Knights wrap up their home schedule versus University of Maine Presque Isle, and then on February 19th the team finishes their regular season on the road against SUNY Canton.
The YSCC Tournament, hosted by NHTI, tips-off on February 23rd and continues through the 26th.
