
MEN'S BASKETBALL FALL SHORT BUT ENJOY EXPERIENCE AT FDU
Men's Basketball get shot at NCAA Division 1 opponent
Hackensack, NJ: Friday, the Vermont State Universtiy Randolph Knights traveled to New Jersey for what would be a groundbreaking event for the small school that use to be a junior college known as Vermont Technical College. Now VTSU- Randolph, the Knights had it's first opportunity to face off against an NCAA Division 1 opponent. Fairleigh Dickinson University, known for their upset against #1 seeded Purdue in the 2023 NCAA Tournament as a #16 seed, gave the Knights an opportunity. VTSU- Randolph took advantage of the opportunity shooting 50% from the three in the first half. The Knights turned some heads with the hot shooting as they found themselves down only 16 with 4:34 left in the first half. FDU went on a late first half run to take a 25 point lead into the half. FDU's length and athleticism gave the Knights problems, forcing 18 turnovers leading to 27points. VTSU- Randolph cooled off in the second half as FDU outscored the Randolph 46-22. FDU defeated the Knights 107-58.
" This was a great opportunity for our campus and our community." said Coach Jamal Hughes. "I think it shows you how far this place has come."

Jaylon Calvin led VTSU- Randolph with 10 points. Calvin also scored his 1000 career point for the Knights.
Xzavier Ivey went perfect from three connecting on all 3 of his attempts.
