In front of a raucous SHAPE crowd the Knights opened their 2015-16 campaign with a convincing 76-48 win over Yankee Conference foe Hampshire Tuesday evening.
In front of a raucous SHAPE crowd the Knights opened their 2015-16 campaign with a convincing 76-48 win over Yankee Conference foe Hampshire Tuesday evening.
Senior Logan White (South Royalton, VT) had a double-double with 21 points and 17 rebounds to lead the way in a dominating performance. BJ Conaway (Lithonia, GA) scored 12 & Kyle Rowles (Loma Linda, CA)10. Everyone played and everyone scored and contributed to a nice team win.
Hampshire opened the scoring with a three point basketbal by Malik Ford, and battled early leadin 13-12 after 7 minutes of play. A three point basketball by Conaway started a 20-2 run by the knights over the next 4 minutes of play. The Knights would head into the locker room up 44-23.
The second half started slow for both teams as neither could find the bottom of the net. The Knights ran away to a 76-48 victory much to the delight of the home fans.
Head Coach Alex Tyrrell was please with the win.
"It's great to start the season off with a win. The guys have worked hard all preseason and winning games is the reward for them. The crowd was great and really brought an atmosphere that the players greatly appreciate," said Coach Tyrrell
The Knights record stand at 1-0 overall and 1-0 in Yankee Conference play. The Knights head to Rutland, Vt. Thursday to take on defending Yankee Conference champion St. Joe's (VT) tip-off is set for 7:30pm.
