Benjamin Conaway Signs With Knights
Vermont Tech Men's Basketball Head Coach Alex Tyrrell is excited to announce the signing of point guard Benjamin Conaway. From Lithonia, Georgia, Conaway joins the Knights for his junior season after transferring from Wallace State Community College.
Prior to Wallace St. BJ played his freshman year at College of Alameda in California. While at College of Alameda, he averaged 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists.
Head Coach Alex Tyrrell believes Conaway has an opportunity to leave a mark here at Vermont Tech.
"We're very pleased that BJ has decided to continue his career at Vermont Tech," said Coach Tyrrell. "He is motivated to complete his degree and will bring great leadership and experience to the basketball program."
Conaway transferred to Wallace State after a year at College of Alameda to be closer to his family in Georgia.
"BJ has dealt with some success and also a lot of adversity so far in his college career. His time at Wallace St. was not exactly how he pictured it, but I think he learned a lot about himself during that time," added Coach Tyrrell.
BJ will be enrolled in the Business Management and Technology program at Vermont Tech.
The Knights are coming off an 11-18 season, and a 7-6 YSCC record. The team lost a tight battle, to end last season, with Southern Maine in the Yankee Tournament semifinals 61-57. Returning 5 players from the 2014-2015 squad, the program has a great foundation, and along with the incoming players will look build on last season's efforts.
