Knight's Rebecca Broadbent places 3rd at Vermont College Championship Meet
Middlebury, VT - Vermont Tech's Rebecca Broadbent (North Dighton, MA) continues her legacy in Vermont Tech cross country by running an incredibly strong 5K race Saturday at Middlebury College.
Keeping pace with the top collegiate runners in Vermont, Rebecca moved from 4th place at the 1 mile marker to 3rd place at the 2 mile mark. Broadbent held on to finish 3rd place overall, earning her 4th consecutive All Vermont Status during her collegiate career. Rebecca ran the race in 19:23 to set a personal best time and a new women's standard for 5K at Vermont Tech. Only Middlebury College runners Read Allen (19:08) and Katie Glew (19:19) ran faster times.
The day wasn't over with Rebecca's performance as two of her teammates also ran to stellar performances. Vermont Tech women Jocy Turinetti (Randolph, VT) and Haley Allard (Tyngsboro, MA) set Big Personal Record times. Jocy is in her first year of competing for Vermont Tech and Haley is running her second season.
The men's team followed the challenge, turing a corner in the season while posting some impressive resutls compared to earlier in the year. The Men's team was lead by Vermont tech top runner Mathew Kelly who finished his 3rd Collegiate race with a personal best time of 32:23, followed by Jonathan Puffer with his personal best time of 32:47 and Michael Dunkle at 36:07.
