Women's Soccer drops two conference games at home

The Vermont Tech Lady Knights opened up their conference play with a home match against the Mustangs of Central Maine CC on Saturday 9/8.

The first half was very evenly played up and down the field with the Mustangs having the edge in time of possession, but the Knights were taking more shots. Neither team was able to gain a significant advantage and the first half ended 0-0.

The second half was the exciting one as it had 6 goals. The Mustangs put in the first goal and then 10 minutes later Dayna Goodell put in a ball off a corner that bounced around in the box. 10 minutes later the Mustangs broke through the Knights defense and put them up 2-1. A few minutes later Emily Grady scored her first collegiate goal on PK after a handball in the box. The Mustangs put in 2 more goals over the next 16 minutes to take the lead for good.

Sunday the Lady Knights took on the Southern Maine CC Seawolves and played an amazing initial 30 minutes of soccer. Then we gave up a couple goals and a third to end the first half. The Seawolves found the the VTC net 5 more times in the second half, for an 8-0 final. The Knights got a number of shots off but were never able to really challenge the Seawolves goalie. The VTC lady Knights host U Maine Presque Isle next Sunday at noon, we hope to see you there.
