Hampshire College Defense Stifles Lady Knights
Women's Soccer falls 5-0
Hampshire College started with offense and ended with lockdown defense to defeat the Vermont Tech Lady Knights today in Randolph Center by a score of 5-0. The visitors took control of the contest early, scoring at 42:44 in the first half. From there both sides dug in, the Knights played tough instead of hanging their heads and kept the score at 1-0 for much of the first. Before halftime, however, Hampshire added another goal to make it 2-0 at the break.
In the second half the defense of Hampshire took over, allowing no shots on goal for the Lady Knights, while the offense tallied 20 of their own. Three more shots hit the back of the net for the visitor, to make the final score 5-0.
Hampshire now has a record of 3-0, 3-0, while VTC falls to 1-5, 1-8. Hampshire next plays at home on Wednesday, September 28 vs NHTI. Vermont Tech's next match is home vs the University of Maine at Augusta. The contest is part of the festivities for Alumni Weekend that takes place Oct 1st and 2nd. The women play at 1pm on Saturday, October 1.
