Trevor Kipp Makes Vermont Tech History Books at Cross Country Nationals
Virginia Beach, VA - Trevor Kipp, who graduated Brattleboro High school (2019) became the first All American Male athlete for Vermont Technical College Friday when he finished 3rd at the USCAA Cross Country National Championship in Virginia Beach. Trevor ran the 5-mile course in 28:03 which was only 5 seconds off the overall fastest time run by a Vermont Tech Athlete. Conditions at the time were tropical. Post hurricane Nicole was working her way through Georgia and Virginia, heavy rains and humid conditions made the course muddy and slick in spots. "We ran under a tornado watch" said coach Dunkle, "It was unique conditions." Trevor began his season at Vermont Tech this year and is studying aviation at the college's Williston campus. He was joined by teammates Rio Coursen (Also from Brattleboro HS) finishing 49th with a season best performance despite the conditions, Oskar Lehnartz (Also from Brattleboro HS) finishing 52nd also with a season best time, Connor Mazzarella who finished 75th despite never running cross country before this season. Elijah Boucher (77th)is also a Brattleboro HS graduate and ran his seasons best, and Alexander Yaggy who ran despite being sick finishing 84th.
All six of the Vermont Tech runners who went to Nationals are freshman and 4 of them graduated from Brattleboro High School. It was a great season for the team. We finished 7th at Nationals. Trevor Won the conference meet at Vermont Tech on October 29th and became the first men'sAll American at Nationals. Next year we are looking forward to an even better season with all of our freshman runners committed to another season.
