KNIGHTS OUTPLAY FISHER
Randolph Center, VT: Vermont Tech Knights suited up against Fisher College Sunday afternoon after suffering a lost at NVU- Lyndon on Saturday. Fisher College defeated the Knights earlier in the season 122-71 in what coach Jamal Hughes called an embarrasing loss.
The Knights rebounded from that loss with a convincing 97-77 win over the visiting Falcons. Vermont Tech traded blows with the Falcons in the first 10 minutes of the game, but a 19-3 run by the Knights created some seperation and gave them a 42-23 lead. Hot shooting by Dominick Presendieu sparked the major run by VTC. Dominick finished with 19 first half points as the Knights took a 52-39 lead into the break.
The Falcons came out of the half strong as they made a 18-5 run of their own to tie the game at 57. The Knights handled their run and responded with a 24-6 run to take control of the game. The Knights did not look back and cruised to a convincing win. Presendieu led all scorers with 26. Marquise Moore added 18 and Dontavious Elder had 14 along with a monster 13 rebounds. Daniel Oliver Kowalczyk filled the stat sheet with 12 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assist, 1 stl and 1 block. The Falcons were led by Josiah Patton who scored 22 points including 4 for 6 from behind the arc.
Coach Hughes on the Win
I thought the guys responded extremely well after a tough loss Saturday. Back to backs are always hard and to control the game against a team who flat out embarassed us the last time we matched up, was remarkable. The guys work really hard and it's good to see it pay off. Hopefully we can keep it going. We have a tough road trip Wednesday against a gritty Great Bay team who will be ready. We have to play well if we want to get out of there with a win.
Vermont Tech travels to Portsmouth, NH for a show down with Great Bay CC on Wednesday.
