Knights Fall at Middlebury College
On Sunday afternoon the Vermont Tech Men's Baskebtall travelled to Middlebury College to face off against the Panthers. This was the first outing for the home team, while the Knights had started the year 6-0. At the end of the contest the Knights were unable to stay unbeaten, as they went down to the Panthers 99-65.
The game started at a fast pace. Middlebury used a number of runs to stretch there lead to 29-14 with 10 minutes to play. As the Knights have all season, they settled into the game and battled away. With 4 minutes to play inthe half the Knights had cut the lead to 9 points. Another quick run by the Panthers though gave the a 57-37 lead at the break.
Vermont Tech continued to fight in the second have but were unable to keep the panthers off the offensive glass, and struggled to find there range on the offensive end. Middlebury would stretch there lead, winning 99-65.
Dispite the loss Head Coach Alex Tyrrell felt there was alot to learn from the contest.
"Middlebury play with great pace and great consistency" said Coach Tyrrell. "That consistency was able to show us some of the weaknesses in our game. We have a great group of guys that have responded to any challenge put in front of them. We will learn from this and be better because of it."
Drake Perry led the Knights with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Trekel Douglas and Jeremiah Shaw each added 13 points.
The Knights will face Fisher College Tuesday, November 20 at 2 P.M. in SHAPE Gymnasium.
