Three players score in double figures to tame the Moose.
AUBURN, ME, The Lady Knight's start the season with a win against the University of Maine-Augusta. Farah Mesidor led the Knights to an 11-1 run to start the first quarter. Defense was key in the opening quarter, forcing the Moose into 14 turnovers off of 11 steals. Foul trouble allowed the Moose to come back from a 16 point deficit. Cold shooting to start the 3rd quarter allowed the Moose to take a one-point lead following a 3 pointer by Suhr. But the Lady Knight's countered with an explosive 3rd quarter performance by Kimah Stribling. Ending the quarter with a 57-49 lead.
With 4 players in foul trouble, VTC held the lead with balanced scoring and solid defense. Kennedy Henderson led the way with a triple-double, 20 points, 10 rebounds, 8 steals, and 5 assists and 2 blocks. Farah Mesidor contributed 23 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 steals. Kimah Stribling added 23 points of her own and adding 8 rebounds and 2 steals.
"Our goal is to lay one brick at a time. We are not looking to skip any steps. Each brick will lay the foundation and pave the way to our ultimate goal," stated coach Miller. "It's always a challenge coaching a thin roster, but we plan to play hard every game."
