Lady Knights season update.
The season to date has been a rollercoaster ride.
Randolph, VT - The 2018-19 season has had its share of excitement as the Lady Knights sit at 5th place in the YSCC and #16th in the USCAA coaches polls. In order to get a bid to the national tourney, the Knights have to either win the YSCC conference tourney and or rank in the top 10 in the nation according to the coaches poll. The Lady Knights are looking for an opening for its first-ever championship run. They were off to a solid start, Jordanna Morris scorched the league scoring over 30 points per game Gabrielle Norwood and local favorite, Mariah Rilling followed right behind her. Playing with 6 active players on the roster was challenging and rewarding. Freshman, Quanisha Ferrol, Deja Cook, and Britney Alexis were trusted into the mix, averaging over 35 mins per game. Nagging injuries prevented the Lady Knights from fully blossoming in the first semester as they finish 8-5 with an exhibition loss to Saint Michael's.
The second semester started shaky, losing the nations leading scorer for the remainder of the season. The roster was thin for the first few games of the second semester. Losing pivotal games to NHTI, Maine Machias, and Central Maine, pushing the Lady Knights down from #12 to #16. With the addition of Kiana Royer, Sabreana Hardemon, Adrienne Dudek, and Kennethia Gilford, the Lady Knights got the charge they need to make a strong 2nd-semester run. "The second-semester additions to the team have been a blessing. Now we have to build that chemistry again and adjust to the large void left in the lineup." Coach Miller stated.
With seven games remaining games on the schedule, 3 are conference games, the Lady Knights have a chance to climb back up the conference standings as well as the USCAA rankings. Coach Miller commented, "I've coached for a USCAA independent school, its definitely a luxury to have more than one option to get into the tourney." The Lady Knights options are running out, but there are still some strong options remaining.
