Lady Knights Fall to NHTI
04/11/12 - LeMauk Powers Lynx to Double Header Sweep
CONCORD, N.H. - Vermont Tech women's softball were defeated in conference play in both of a double-header against the NHTI Lynx. In game one the Lynx won 7-3 and in game two NHTI bested the Knights in a tight contest, with the final 11-9 in six innings.
In game one, Micaela Bill (Concord, NH) controlled the Vermont Tech lineup, pitching seven innings, striking out 11 and allowing only one earned run. Offensively, Jenna Dumayne (Claremont, NH) went 2-2 with an RBI, Bill went 2-4 with a triple and three RBI's, Nichole LeMauk (Deerfield, NH) went 1-4 with a triple and an RBI, and Holly Bourassa (Amherst, NH) went 2-3 with an RBI. Game two was a much closer contest, including the Knights starting to find their bats. VTC took an early 6-0 lead behind quality hitting, smart base running and excellent pitching by Junior Rachel Noyes (Bethel, VT). The Lynx clawed their way back, however, in the end the Lynx pulling out the victory 11-9. The game was slightly marred by poor weather, including a downpour in the 4th inning, and then the game finally being called in the 6th due to darkness with the Knights having runners on first and second base.
NHTI is now 4-1 and they will host CMCC in a double header on Saturday. Vermont Tech drops to 2-9 and next on the schedule is a four-pack of games over the weekend of April 14-15.
