Knights have first ever USCAA National Champion!
Albany, NY - Vermont Tech's first ever USCAA National Champion was crowned at the USCAA National Invitational Track & Field meet in Albany on Saturday. Freshman pole vaulter Rupesh Gurung won the meet in a tie-breaker over UMaine Augusta at 3.35 meters (about 11 feet). The height was a season best performance for Rupesh, though over a foot short of a personal best.
Rupesh admits he was dissapointed not to have completed a higher height, though was extermely extied to learn that he won the tiebreaker to take the first place finish.
Rupesh will be back for several more attempts to try to break the current USCAA all-time record, which is 4.35 meters.
