Knights Silence Seawolves

Vermont Tech rebounded from its loss to Central Maine by rolling over Southern Maine CC, 87-61 on Sunday afternoon in South Portland. The Vermont Tech shooters found their mark, hitting 10-21 from three point range (47.6%) and 32-62 from the field (51.6%) to secure the victory.

The Knights went to the locker room at halftime with a 45-32 lead. However, the Seahawks rallied in the second half and closed the lead to six points with twelve minutes to play. The Knights answered with a 10-0 run and held a comfortable lead the remainder of the game.

Senior Kevin Carr (Westminster, MD) led the Knights with 19 points. Freshmen Tevon Erwin (albany, NY) and Lucas Dutil (Barre, VT) were outstanding. Erwin hit 7 of 10 shots from the field and went 2 for3 from beyond the arc for 19 points. Dutil hit 6 of 7 from the field and connected on both of his three point attempts for 14 points. Junior Josh Lindsey (Palm Bay, FL) nailed down another double-double, scoring 13 points and hauling down 12 rebounds. Lindsey also had six assists.

"Our guys had something to prove to themselves today, said Coach John Dyer after the game. "They demonstrated resilience by rebounding from a flat performance on Saturday. Everyone played hard. Josh Lindsey was a real iron man. He and Kwei General-Vanderpuije really controlled the boards. Tevon and Luke were fantastic at both ends of the floor.  Freshman Kevin Phillips did a nice job at point guard. Alex Tyrrell was saddled with foul trouble for much of the game and Kevin Phillips stepped up nicely. Kevin Carr was outstanding—as he usually is. "

In addition to his 19 points, Carr had six assists, hit 4-4 from the foul line and held the Seahawks top scorer, Josh Mackie, to five points.

Despite playing only 13 minutes, Junior Alex Tyrrell (Sydney, Australia) dished six assists.

Vermont Tech is now 8-1, 5-1 and next host a high profile game at home versus NHTI with a starting time of 8pm.
