Dressage Team places 3rd; wins sportsmanship award
The VTC dressage team had a super successful show at Mount Holyoke Equestrian Center on 3/10. New recruit Abi Sikora was a powerhouse, scoring an incredible 75% at Intro in her very first dressage test. That score, along with strong performances by China Eastmond and Olivia Kaplan put VTC in 3rd place against multiple UMASS, UCONN, Mount Holyoke and UVM teams. It also earned Abi the high score championship for the show. Elsie Sikora, Olivia Kaplan, and China Eastmond had strong showings in equitation, with China and Olivia earning spots in the Region B equitation championships, to be held at UCONN on 3/24.
Coach Lori Berger says "Team members have shown major improvements in their focus and problem-solving since the Fall, and are approaching competitions with more confidence and preparation."
In addition to the stellar performances at Mouht Holyoke, the Vermont Tech Dressage Team was voted the Region B recipient of the Excellence in Sportsmanship trophy for the second year in a row. VTC riders repeatedly show their willingness to help host colleges with everything from holding horses to breaking down the arena between classes, and make a concerted effort to encourage and compliment riders from other schools. We are pleased to know that our efforts are appreciated. Go (Mounted) Knights!
