Women's soccer win with a 4-1 Victory
Randolph Center, Vermont Tech Freshman Ashley Stearns (Bethel, VT) recorded a career-high six-point match by scoring 2 goals as the Vermont Tech women's soccer team thumped Pine Manor 4-1on Sunday. Sophomore Gwenn Kearns (Jeffersonville, VT) and Freshman Jasmine Whitman (Newmarket, NH) atallied goal in the match for the Green Knights.
Pine Manor recovered quickly when Sybil Lynch got past the Vermont Tech Defense and to find the back of the net in the 10th minute. The score would stay the same until the second half.
Stearns got the offense going again in the second half with her 2 goals, scoring in the 56th minute, and 76th minute, from both sides of the field.
Whitman put the finishing touches on its first victory of the season in the 83rd minute. Senior Eileen Gomez (Wolcott, VT) sent a ball to the corner where Ross was able to run on to and cross it into Whitman, who collected the ball and shot from the center of the field in to the upper right corner of the net.
Sophomore Laura Flint (Highgate, VT) recorded her first collegiate victory with seven saves. Vaughan made 15 saves for Pine Manor.
Vermont Tech's next game is home September 27 at 1:00pm vs. against Conference rival Hampshire College.
