UMPI Owls Soar Past Green Knight Women's Soccer
Senior Goalie Abbie Senesac's 26 saves not enough
Senior goalie Abbie Senesac (Williston, VT) did her absolute best to try to keep the Green Knights competitive with University of Maine Presque Isle on Sunday, September 4, but the Owls were simply too strong. Senesac was the lone bright spot for VTC, as she made 26 saves in the game, several of them quite spectacular, limiting the loss to 9-0.
The entirety of the team was exhausted from the oppressive heat and humidity of the game versus Johnson State that they played just one day prior. UMPI, however, was completely fresh and excited to play, as this was their first game of the young season. They scored early and often, continually on the attack on the offensive end. This forced the Green Knight defenders to constantly be on the move, sapping their legs of strength, and allowing for many shots on goal.
The loss dropped the Green Knights to 0-2, 0-0 in the YSCC, while UMPI improved to 1-0. The next match for VTC is on Wednesday, September 7 at NHTI. The game is slated to start at 4:30pm. UMPI is next up against Unity College on Labor Day.
