VTSU- RANDOLPH BASKETBALL HIGHLIGHT YANKEE CONFERENCE AWARDS
Calvin repeats as YSCC player of the year, while first year students Roberge and Allen make All Conference teams
Randolph Center, VT: This past Saturday, the Yankee Small College Conference held their annual awards ceremony to recognize the student athletes in Concord, NH. It was an exciting Saturday for the Knights as they racked up multiple awards to bring back to Randolph. On the women's side, first year player Yvonne Roberge was named to the 1st team all-conference team after averaging 17ppg, 8 rebs and 7 assists per game. She also led the Lady Knights to their first conference final four appearance in 10 seasons. On the men's side, first year player Tyler Allen was named to the 2nd team after averaging almost 20ppg and 8 rebs. Junior, Jaylon Calvin repeated as the Yankee Conference Player of the Year. Only the 2nd player in school history to win back-to-back POY honors. Calvin averaged 21.5ppg, 6 rebs, and 6.4 assists per game, leading the Yankee conference in both scoring and assist. To cap off a great day, head coach Jamal Hughes was named the Yankee Conference Coach of the Year. Hughes led the Knights to a 15-9 record and had the Knights ranked as high as 2nd in the USCAA.
